On October 24, 2025, another TEX-BREIN project webinar took place.
This time, the webinar focused on one of the most crucial aspects of textile innovation — designing for circularity and longevity.
Aleksandra Krysiak, speaker (PIOT Federation of Apparel & Textiles Industry Employers), presented how circular design principles can transform the textile industry, extending product lifecycles, reducing environmental impact, and empowering consumers to participate in circular systems.
Key discussion topics included:
- The three core principles of circular design and how they guide sustainable product development
- Modular and upgradeable textiles, allowing easy repair and reconfiguration
- Timeless and emotional design, creating long-lasting consumer attachment
- Material selection strategies to balance durability, recyclability, and performance
- User empowerment models, such as digital product passports, repair services, and traceability tools
The session emphasized the need for collaboration between designers, manufacturers, and users to build a resilient, waste-free textile ecosystem.
As Aleksandra Krysiak concluded, “Durability and circularity require courage and innovation – those investing in longevity today will lead the sustainable industry of tomorrow.”
